This product does it¡®s job . It¡®s easy to install , also you can tighten up more if you want the door to close real quick or you can tighten less if you want your door to slow close . Bought one more after being satisfied by first purchase.

The hinge works great. I put one hinge on my basement door so my blind dog wouldn’t fall if I forgot to close the door.Then I put one at my son’s so the baby in his walker could fall. WORKS GREAT!

I have bought 8 of these automatic closing hinges as of this writing, and I¡®ll probably end up buying more. They¡®re very easy to install on an already installed door. I removed the middle of the 3 hinges on every door and swapped one of these in. I always used the screws from the previous hinge, and floated this hinge in right into the previous screw holes. I was careful to not strip the hole during this process. The spring tightening is also really nice. It lets you set the force required for your door. You can easily fine-tune the force to your specific needs.The only mild complaints I have are:1. The first installation was difficult to determine the direction needed to wind the spring. I did wind the spring in the opposite direction to where the door was trying to open instead of shut. I should have read better. Classic operator error.2. The hinge is symmetrical, and can be installed upside down. The mechanism for tightening the spring should be on the top of the hinge. I¡®ve installed at least 2 upside down, and had to pull them out to flip them over. This is also operator error, but it doesn¡®t make it an less annoying.Regardless of the 2 small complaints, that were both my fault anyways, I would gladly buy these again and again.

Doesn’t always close fully. Conditions permitting items will normally have a soft closing. The door needs to be installed properly and the hinges adjusted to the proper setting. Sometimes the wind will stop it from closing all the way.

I have an interior door that I wanted to keep closed ¡°enough¡± (meaning not latched, but the door rests against the edge of the frame), and this did the job perfectly. I installed one of these hinges as the center hinge, and I set it to its lowest setting. The door closes quietly and slowly enough to be safe for the cats, but it rests the door against the edge such that the cats and dogs can pull it open to get out with their paws without trouble. (Well, the dogs use their noses, but whatever. They¡®re dogs.)If you want this thing to slam your door shut and overcome the latching mechanism to shut it completely, you might want to replace all of the hinges with one. Even at its strongest setting, one hinge doesn¡®t close the door all the way for me, but of course, your mileage may vary depending on your door weight, stickiness, latch strength, etc.Visually, it looks like the other hinges that are there, just a little bit bigger. You don¡®t notice it. I¡®m very pleased with this item.

I installed a remote thermostat in my daughter’s room (the only person on the second floor) so that I would not have to heat the entire second floor. Closed all the vents except her room. Brilliant idea, right? Except my daughter could not remember to close that darn door so I was still heating the entire second floor. I bought one of these hinges and installed it in five minutes on the middle hinge of her door and voila! The door is now closed 24/7 unless she is walking in or out of it. Very surprising how much pull/push there is on the door with a single hinge but it works just as advertised. Now I have cut my heating bill by almost $100 a month. Have been paid back in dividends.

This spring hinge fit perfectly to replace my regular hinge, nothing was needed but to unscrew the old one and screw in this one. The screws provided are a little longer than the original ones, presumably to secure this hinge better given it has a spring — this presents no problem, you just screw them in and they tap the hole deeper by themselves. The spring mechanism is adjustable — you can make it provide only light tension, if the door is light like mine and you don’t need it to latch but just need it to not stand open; or there are at least two stiffer settings, if the door is heavy or you need it to latch. This hinge looks good, works well, is easy to install and is great value for the price. The installation instructions were short and kind of cryptic, but there’s not much to this so I was able to figure it out ok.

We use these on all the doors in our upstairs to keep the pets out of the bedrooms.Before finding these I had to use a baby gate somewhere on the stairs which isn’t safe for us.I also use one on our mud room door, which has a cat door, to keep the dogs out of the cat food and litter box.I love these so much and want to put them everywhere haha

Worked perfectly. If the existing cut-out area for the new hinge is too small dont worry. Every hardware store has a little wood chisel you can buy to make the mounting area the right size. Hold the new hinge in place, trace the new outline, lightly chisel, and check fit. Install hinge using the new screws, adjust tension like instructions say to, and it works great! I used the second of three tension choices. Perfect.
