I installed it on an interior hollow core door. It was not the exact same size so I had to chisel the frame and door a little but a pretty easy DIY job. Easy to adjust the tension and keeps the door to the basement closed as a safety precaution for a toddler in the house.

Had to get a self closing hinge for the bathroom as my baby kept on eyeing the room and when someone left the door a drop open he was inside. After saying again and again that the door needs to be completely closed at all times and seeing it still doesnt help, the self closing hinge was the best solution.

Very satisfied with purchase. Installed 1 hinge on interior door. Works great. Easy installation. For heavier exterior door you would want to install 2 hinges.

Had several doors around the office area that are hollow core so a traditional door closer would not work as they pull through and damage the doors. Some of the doors in the building have the large spring closers on them but they do not have the adjustment and they are sightly. These hinges were perfect for the remaining doors leading out to the shop area. Nice easy close or can really crank up the tension to have it slam shut. Planning on trying out some of the larger (4 hole) units to try on a solid core door at some of our other facilities.

Careful to release spring tension from old one if possible. It can snap shut if you are removing the old screws.

I bought this to replace an older self-closing door hinge original to the home that has lost its tension over the years. The old one had a brass finish that was very oxidized and worn. This new product has more tension and strength compared to the run-down self-closing door hinge that could no longer fully close the door. The brass finish is quite nice. Overall, this gets a 5 star review from me. If you need to replace your self-closing door hinge, you should consider purchasing this product.
