The safety design prevents children from accidentally opening the lock and prevents ordinary theft. The left and right sides can be used interchangeably.
Note:
Measurements required to replace crescent lock:
1. If you do not want to re-open the holes, please confirm that the screw hole spacing is 46-50mm/1.8-1.9in
2. If you do not want to replace the hook, please confirm whether the hook extension length (23mm/0.9in) can be connected with the lock.
3. The distance from the central axis of the lock to the edge of the crescent is 20.5mm/0.8, and confirm whether the turntable can catch the hook.

I grabbed the drill but didn’t even need to use it because the 4 holes were perfectly aligned from the previous lock. If there’s a standard, this meets that. Good and secure when locked, and it fits together nicely.
