I was a little nervous about spending so much money to “try” these bulbs, but was hopeful the Amazon has done their homework with the vendor. I received a Fed-EX tracking number the next day after placing the order, and the bulbs arrived across the country in only a few days! So I was able to to install some of them over the weekend. Bypassing the ballasts is easy, simply wiring 110 to the pin receptacles on each end of the fixture by re-purposing the extra long ballast wiring that already exists in the fixture.The bulbs should be supported in the middles to guarantee they do not fall out of the fixtures in my opinion. I simply used a long clear wire tie loosely wrapped around the fixture and bulbs together, to support the bulbs in the center, keeping them straight over the entire 8 ft.The amount of increased light output from these led tubes is very noticeable. I hope to upload a photo showing the old and new bulbs side by side.The color is bright white, just getting into the start of a blue hues, matching closely what is recommended for detailed work, in a factory setting (BUT – I would NOT describe these as blue at all!)The advantages of the LED over fluorescent makes these very attractive to me in both my garage, and in my barn/workshop:- At these prices upgrading my fluorescent lighting is actually cheaper than replacing ballasts!- I hope to never again worry about having to replace bulbs or ballasts, so I will be climbing my step ladder much less now!- In fluorescent bulbs, the light is spread 360 degrees, most of it wasted, with these led tubes, the light is spread probably 120-140 degrees, so I can actually rotate these bulbs in the direction I want the usable light, and use ALL of the light !- The usable light distance from these bulbs is greater than fluorescents, so even the floor of my garage and barn are brighter and clearer.- With line voltage direct to the bulbs, I can actually split the 2 bulbs of the fixture onto separate circuits and power 1 bulb for less light, or both bulbs for a really bright environment.Overall, I am very pleased with these lights, and will be buying more!
