This is a great little tool. It hooks to virtually any standard combination wrench and lets you connect a 1/2″ ratchet, breaker bar, 1/2″ extension, 21mm socket, or a 21mm combination wrench. It appears to be one piece of cast iron, so it’s fairly heavy for its size. The hooks are tapered to accept a lot of different thicknesses of combination wrenches. My Gear Wrench combination wrenches are fairly thin and seat fully into the adapter. My Craftsman combination wrenches have a thick spot in the center where the Craftsman name and wrench size are displayed. Because of the taper, even my biggest 1″ combination wrench still fits just fine.To test its strength, I snapped my 1/2″ clicker-type torque wrench onto this adapter and connected it to a combination wrench. I applied 100 lb-ft of torque as measured at my torque wrench and the adapter showed no sign of stress at all.Just a note, because this tool adds length to the distance from the torque wrench to the nut, it increases the torque by the ratio of the torque wrench length to the overall assembly length. In my case, my torque wrench is 18″ long. I measured the center of this tool to the center of the nut at 6.5″ on my combination wrench. This means my overall length was 18 + 6.5 = 24.5″.24.5 / 18 = 1.36So whatever torque my torque wrench reads gets multiplied by 1.36 to find the actual torque at the nut.In my case, 100 lb-ft at the torque wrench = 136 lb-ft at the nut. This torque multiplier will vary from set-up to set-up, depending on the length of the combination wrench and the length of your torque wrench.

This wrench extender is very solid and has a great heft to it. I used it with several wrenches and all fit fine. The 1/2¡± drive fit my ratchets and extensions perfectly so no issues there. I really can¡¯t find anything to complain about with it.Frankly, I think a guy might need to be somewhat careful using it with ratcheting box end wrenches. I¡¯m pretty sure you could put enough torque to break your wrench. I think your wrench will break long before this tool does.

  3. JD –

I purchased this part as I had was having difficulty removing a nut in a tight space. This allowed me to use a small open-faced wrench and then use my socket set with this tool to break it loose. Definitely a helpful tool to have around.

  4. JT –

This wrench extender is great for when you need more leverage. Easy to use and works well.

  5. carmedic65 –

I know we have all done the double wrench thing on very tight hard to reach fasteners only to have them slip and bust our knuckles. Well this solves that. I was impressed with the simplicity of this tool and was surprised this was not made years ago. I have used it several times with great success. It fits good on wrenches and a few of my ratchets to give me that extra leverage for that stubborn fastener and the really great thing is I no longer fear the wrench slip and busting my knuckles. So, in conclusion if you like busted knuckles and face planting in to the vehicle don’t buy this as this will keep that from happening. I have moved this tool to the top of my tool box as it is my go to tool for those fasteners that need the extra force to loosen.

  6. Dwight –

What a great addition to any tool box! This small and simple tool is really helpful when you need that extra leverage. It is very strong and gives you several options for getting that leverage. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. With that said, I do feel like the price is a little high for something so simple and made from inexpensive materials.

  7. T.E. –

If you’ve done your own wrenching for a while you’ve probably put the crescent and box end of two wrenches together to try to get some more leverage. It’s a last resort tactic that is necessary when you have limited space. This wrench extender allows you to do the same thing much more effectively. It will fit my largest wrenches (1-7/8″) just as well as the smaller more common sized wrenches. It will work to both tighten and loosen by flipping the extender around to apply torque from the opposite direction. You can use a 1/2″ drive or 21mm wrench. You can get the most compact setup if you put a 21mm box end on the adapter. It’s a simple and ingenious tool!

  8. dcsang –

If you work with wrenches, just get one. There are different style wrench extenders, and this is compact, practical, and convenient to carry in your toolbox or bag. The design allows use of a 1/2″ ratchet or breaker bar, or 21MM wrench for additional leverage in tight spaces. This extender has some play and might feel a bit awkward when used with smaller sized wrenches. This is not an issue with larger sizes, and it fits my largest 1-5/16″. Just keep in mind that you will need to flip this extender to the top/underside of your wrench to reverse direction. I would have liked to see some sort of friction material at the points where the extender contacts the wrench. This is one of those tools that you might not realize you need until you have it.

  9. YROCK –

It ended up not being what I needed but I did try it out to see if it would work as intended and it did just that. Now I know that if I need to fit a wrench in a tight spot, I know where I can find the perfect tool. It worked great

  10. I like to buy stuff –

No more linking 2 wrenches together for extension! This little tool is awesome, helps to get stubborn bolts from tight locations where nothing else will fit!I used this on exhaust bolts, starter bolts, made it much easier!Tool seems very durable, stable on the wrench so the proper amount of torque can be applied.I wish they had a smaller version with a 3/8 ratchet hole, but i can always use an adapter for that.Good tool! Something that everyone needs in their tool box! Good price too!
