There are times when you can¡¯t get your hand into a spot and apply the torque needed to loosen a bolt. I wind up using locking pliers and then cranking on those with more pliers . . . often ends in bloody knuckles or broken pliers. This is a single-direction unit. If you are using a half-inch driver to use it. It will only torque the wrench in one direction. You¡¯ll have to come from the opposite direction to torque the other way. Not a deal-breaker for me. I haven¡¯t *had* to use it yet, but this will be better than nothing!I can *see* in my mind some of the situations that would have had me reaching for this tool! Get one before you need it!

The fit an finish of the tool is good. The 1/2″ anvil on my ratchet fit well in the extender and my 21mm socket was snug on the nut. A nice, safer alternative to the two interlinked combination wrenches trick which can be hard on your wrenches. This tool should ideally be two wrench extenders instead of one because you need to flip the extender over to swap between tightening and loosening. This means that some extender/breaker bar/ratchet/extension configurations will work out very well whereas others may be impossible once you try to use the tools in the intended workspace. Think carefully about your intended application if you are buying this tool for a specific purpose.Given the value and how well suited this extender can be for certain jobs I am giving this four stars but I would have given the extender five stars if it had been a pair of extenders set up to support tightening/loosening with however you set up your tools. In extreme torque situations favoring a breaker bar would be preferable to a ratchet as you do not want to break any teeth in your ratchet. As in any high torque scenario, make sure you are wearing eye protection and are prepared in case there is tool failure at any point in your setup.

This works really well for those times when there isn’t room to stack wrenches to get the extra leverage you need. Or, when you need to use the open end of the wrench and need extra leverage to break that stubborn bolt loose. It is very solid and stable. No worries about it slipping off during use like when stacking wrenches.I wish it took a different size wrench. 21mm is not a real common size in most wrench sets and there is no good SAE equivalent. Otherwise, this is a really useful tool that has found a permanent home in my tool box.

I already have a wrench extender bar by Chestnut Tools, and it has been great for stubborn nuts and bolts, particularly with rusted or overtightened bolts such as oil drain bolts. The problem with it, however, is that sometimes it¡¯s just too long for tight spaces, and that¡¯s where this wrench extender shines. I¡¯ll post a comparison picture of the two.The fact that this can be used both with a crescent wrench or a ratchet wrench for additional leverage is great. There are some bolts on my motorcycle that are notoriously difficult to get to, and extra reach doesn¡¯t necessarily help, but extra leverage is what I want, and this gives that to me.It¡¯s a weighty 7.5-ounce, and is 3-inches long, 2-inches wide, and 1-inch thick, with an opening for the shaft of a wrench that is 0.3 to 0.5-inches thick and 1-inch wide. The only issue I have with this, which is very minor, is that it is designed to work only in one direction unless you flip the extender 180-degrees. You can¡¯t reverse your ratchet direction and have your wrench then tighten or loosen in the opposite direction without flipping it, because the wrench would then fall out of the extender. It¡¯s not a big deal unless you are working in a very confined space. Just be aware of this potential issue if you need it for a specific job where reversing the extender may make it unusable due to clearance restrictions.Otherwise, this is a very helpful item that should live in every DIY-er¡¯s toolbox, because when you need it, you need it.

I have a couple longer breaker bars for those stubborn bolts or rusted parts. This is an interesting new way to use your everyday tools as a breaker bar. Honestly it took me a couple tries to get it to work properly, it definitely needs a new kind of muscle memory, but when you get it it works really well. Attaching the bar on the side can be both a benefit or a con depending on the environment you¡¯re trying to use it in. I can definitely see situations in say a car engine where the extra width this adds would make it unusable. But for the most part I¡¯ve been able to use it pretty freely. You can also use it in either direction, you just need to flip it and you¡¯re good to go. There¡¯s a lot of ways to hook on to it too, which makes it even more versatile. This is a surprisingly good addition to your tool box. No more needed to carry around a longer break bar or a tube to extend the handle, just a bit of hardware that fits in your hand. Very happy with this.

This extender tool extends your torque wrench versatility using any regular adjustable wrench. It is great for adding more leverage and for getting into hard-to-reach areas. I needed two sizes of open-end torque wrenches to tighten up some HVAC connections to specifications, but I just couldn’t afford to spend hundreds for the tools. This wrench extender device is a life-saver!Once I got this universal wrench extender adapter, I have been looking for excuses to use it everywhere, using it very, very often, breaking loose any jammed nuts I can find, like on forklift lift chains. I use this wrench extension with my long 1/2″ ratchet and it works perfectly every time!

Pro. Mechanic of 10+ years. Great way of applying more torque on a wrench without having to put 2 wrenches together and risking your fingers. I’ve used it on as small as a 12mm flex head ratchet wrench with great success. You do have to kind of hold everything together as you work with it, but it’s much less of a pain than the 2 wrench method. Have used it on up to a 19mm wrench with a 2.5 ft 1/2 ratchet on it(about 80-100ft/lbs force) and the tool showed no signs of bending/warping. Can easily see this thing holding up for at least 10 years of weekly use if not abused (breaking loose a honda crank pulley bolt with this is probably pushing it, but it may work)

  9. Heather Brown –

This is a solidly built wrench extender that you can connect to a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar or ratchet for extra leverage with a wrench. I feel that if you are a mechanic you need one of these in your tool box. Besides the 1/2 inch drive you can also drive it with a wrench on the hex drive. Really like this tool.

  10. Richard Wright –

Safe to use and with a three foot or so 1/2 inch breaker bar attached it makes removing a stubborn bolt or nut a breeze. Easy Peasy!
