I’m a machinist. This product passed calibration at my companies QC dept. But, it only took 2 days before the device was varying between -.0015 and .008 with the jaws fully closed. Took some work to get it to work somewhat properly again but these are destined for the garbage. If you would like reliable accuracy, get a dial.

This seems like a good quality unit that works well for my use case, which doesn’t require extreme precision. I can’t speak to how accurate it is because I haven’t compared it with a known accurate item or calibration method, but it does seem accurate to me and will work for my use around the house.

Very good quality and easy-to-use. Easily switch from mm to inches or fractions with a push of a button. Comes in plastic case with a screwdriver to change the battery and 2 spare batteries. Plus it’s got a battery already in it. Should’ve bought one sooner.

I bought this to replace a really old set of analog plastic calipers which were way off. These are decent, but a couple of things to note:The display looks nothing like the listing. The listing makes it look like the display is nearly backlit, which of course, it is not.Two, and I didn’t realize how much I like this feature on the wixey until I used this one, is that the decimal/fraction mode on my wixey is displayed both at the same time, while on the ip54, you have to switch between the two modes to toggle between the two. I like this feature when, for example, measuring a hole. I can get a decimal reading, which may or may not “round off” to a fraction (the wixey goes in 1/64th increments, but only shows it when it’s “close” to the 64th). Then instead of trying to figure out what the next largest 64th is, I can simply open the wixey a bit until the 64th “locks in”. Then I can grab the appropriate drill bit.However, the ip54 seems to be built a little better (the wixey has some plastic in the housing). Unit zeroes back when closed, so that’s good.For what I do (woodworking and 3d printing) this will be fine, however.
