The safety design prevents children from accidentally opening the lock and prevents ordinary theft. The left and right sides can be used interchangeably.
Note:
Measurements required to replace crescent lock:
1. If you do not want to re-open the holes, please confirm that the screw hole spacing is 46-50mm/1.8-1.9in
2. If you do not want to replace the hook, please confirm whether the hook extension length (23mm/0.9in) can be connected with the lock.
3. The distance from the central axis of the lock to the edge of the crescent is 20.5mm/0.8, and confirm whether the turntable can catch the hook.

This was a perfect fit replacement for an OEM Milguard vertical sash, white vinyl window lock. The locking mechanism fit into the original holes, and there was no need to replace the second part (lock catch) as they worked together seamlessly. (The only identifying numbers on the broken OEM lock, other than the Milgard logo on the front, were on the underside: A-S PA)

I live in a fairly new house and all the window locks were plastic. A couple broke and I decided to replace them all with these. I wasn’t able to install them myself as you really need a drill driver, which I don’t have, but it took my son only 30 mins to install 18 of them. I am very pleased that I can now open & close my windows without fearing that the lock will break.

Haven’t installed yet- not exactly what I needed. Mine is more square without the curve. Looks good for size. If it doesn’t work it’s my fault. I didn’t see exactly what I needed. The system is the same the shape is a variation. Will update if I install- still looking.
